BOD file

BOD file (probably from the word body) is plain text file (readable with standard text editors) which hold data about 3D objects (such as ships and stations) used in X3 (X2). It's similar to BOB file but internally it's different. Its advantage over BOB file is that it is easy to view or edit it with ordinary text editors and it can also be easily created by 3rd party software (such as DBOX2). Its disadvatage is size (it's usually larger then BOB file) and speed of processing (it's much slower to process which is partly because it's encoded in plain text and partly because every BOD file has to be internally converted into BOB like format).
